Studying abroad during school vacations is becoming increasingly popular. So-called summer programs — short-term courses offered during the northern hemisphere’s summer — have attracted a growing number of teenagers who want to go beyond the traditional school break.

“These programs represent a transformative opportunity for learning and personal growth. Participating in a summer program means exploring career paths, developing leadership and communication skills, building a global network, and, above all, experiencing the real academic life of an international university,” explains Edson Agatti, Executive Director of Hayek Global College, an international university based in Brasília.

In partnership with Cumberland University, located in Tennessee (USA), Hayek is launching the Summer Camp 2026 – Leadership, Communication & U.S. Experience, an exclusive program for high school students who will have the chance to experience life on an American university campus. The goal is to develop key leadership and communication skills while providing an authentic U.S. college experience.

The program will take place in July 2026 and includes on-campus housing, cultural activities, local excursions, three daily meals at the university cafeteria, a certified leadership course, public speaking workshops, team projects, and social and cultural events.

The Summer Camp 2026 launch event featured Györgyi Mihalyi, Director of International Partnerships at Cumberland University. “It will be a culturally rich experience. At Cumberland University, we have students from more than 60 countries. Participants will learn to speak in public, communicate with confidence, and take part in cultural activities such as an American football game. It’s an excellent opportunity to experience daily life at a U.S. university — and perhaps prepare to study with us in the future,” highlighted Mihalyi.

In addition to the campus experience, the program includes guided visits to two major U.S. cities. In Washington, D.C., participants will visit landmarks such as the White House, Capitol Hill, and other government institutions. In New York City, the itinerary includes Wall Street, the United Nations Headquarters, and other iconic attractions.

Partnership with Hayek

Cumberland University is one of Hayek’s official partners in the American College 2+2 Program, an innovative undergraduate model offering a dual degree between Brazil and the United States. In this format, students complete the first two years of their degree in Brazil under an American curriculum, and then transfer to a partner university in the U.S. to complete the final two years — earning a bachelor’s degree in fields such as Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, International Relations, and other business-related areas.

“Hayek is a very innovative institution, and we are proud of this partnership. We share the same vision of creating an inclusive, globally minded environment for our students,” concluded Mihalyi.
